#### "Abiding Compassion" from njgrace.org**

In the message "Abiding Compassion," the speaker explores the concept of believers living in a close, dependent relationship with Jesus Christ, described as "abiding" in Him, to bear His spiritual fruit. Drawing from John 15:4–5, the message emphasizes that believers can do nothing of true spiritual value without abiding in Christ, the vine, while they can do all things of spiritual worth by relying on Him. The focus is on expressing Christ’s compassion and love toward humanity, specifically for the helpless, hungry, and hurting.
1. **Compassion for the Helpless**: Referencing Matthew 9:36, Jesus felt compassion for the lost, who are spiritually helpless without God’s Spirit, living aimlessly like sheep without a shepherd. Unsaved individuals rely on their own limited human wisdom, but Jesus desires they find purpose and security in Him. Believers abiding in Christ can share His compassion by sharing the Gospel, offering hope and spiritual life to the lost.
2. **Compassion for the Hungry**: In Matthew 15:32, Jesus showed compassion for the physically hungry crowd, miraculously feeding thousands. Beyond physical hunger, which affects about 750 million people globally, Jesus, as the "bread of life" (John 6:35), satisfies spiritual hunger. Believers are called to reflect His compassion by addressing both physical and spiritual needs, sharing the Gospel to fill the void in people’s hearts.
3. **Compassion for the Hurting**: Luke 7:13 highlights Jesus’ compassion for a grieving mother whose son had died, whom He comforted and restored by raising her son. Believers can mirror this by comforting the emotionally hurting, praying for them, and speaking scriptural truth to counter lies that cause pain (John 8:31–32). Abiding in Christ enables believers to offer His healing love and support.
The message concludes by urging believers to abide in Christ to cultivate a heart of compassion and love, actively reaching out to the helpless, hungry, and hurting with the Gospel and practical care. It encourages reflection on how to show this compassion in everyday life.
