Winter Solstice Observation and Celebration Dec 21 3:30 pm
Details
The Winter Solstice is near—the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. On our modern, religiously inspired calendar, the Solstice falls on Sunday December 21, and we Freethinkers plan to mark the occasion together.
We’ll gather from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM to (hopefully!) watch the sunset, reflect on its significance, and enjoy good conversation. Those who wish are welcome to stay for a meal and drinks afterward.
We’ll be joined by our friends from the newly formed Freedom From Religion Foundation Pikes Peak group.
Location: 5245 N. Academy Blvd, traveling north, across from Target store. Look for the sign forTexas T-Bone Steak House and Famous Dave’s, exit to Tomah Court.

You’re welcome to stay for food and drink, Or simply come for the sunset and conversation. We hope to see the sun reach its furthest southern setting, appearing to set directly on Almagre Mountain, a small peak on our horizon, approximately 3:55–4:10 PM (weather permitting).
We will first gather in a small alcove left of the main door, and weather permitting, on a patio outside. Then move to a dining room after the sunset. Please let us know if you plan to attend and how many people you’re bringing. If your plans change—no worries at all. You’re forgiven ??
You don’t need to use the Meetup RSVP process (though you may if you like). Or you can also call or text: springs code then 659-5075. Or just drop in. We hope you’ll join us for a meaningful sunset, good company, and thoughtful conversation. Bring you solar eclipse eye cover if you still have them.
