Humanism: What It Was, Is, and Could Become!

Details

Humanists rely on reason and compassion, rather than supernatural revelation, to guide our quest to become more fully human as individuals and to cooperatively improve society and sustain the planet. Does this sound like you? Do you want to understand Humanism better, and explore what humanists can contribute to our society?

Freethinkers Forum, a Humanist Discussion Group, has been lucky in having the national leaders of most of our country's humanist organizations as speakers during the past year. To wrap up the summer, we decided to look at what we've learned from them and other humanists throughout history, and discuss who we are as Freethinkers, and where we can go together in this fraught time.

Our leader will be Mim Chapman, PhD, one of the founders and co-leaders of our Freethinkers Forum. Your ideas, questions, and thoughts are key to the discussion! So pass the word to your friends, and join us in person or via zoom.

We meet the second Sunday of every month from noon - 1:30 pm in a hybrid format, in person at UU Santa Fe on the corner of Barcelona and Galisteo, and via zoom. To get the zoom link, go to Events on our meetup site, and click that you will attend, then you can access the zoom link at the Online event icon.

We are a gathering of freethinkers and humanists, people from all faiths or none, who come together to discuss collaboratively-chosen topics, to listen with open minds, share with open hearts, work together on social activism projects and share supportive community. Our general format is a short presentation followed by an hour or so of open discussion of the subject. All are welcome, and all outlooks on the topics are respected. We aim to learn from each other and celebrate our diversity!
