"We the people..." what do these words mean?
Details
We all know the first words of the Declaration of Independence, and the first words of the U.S. Constitution, but what do these words actually mean? Kalb Bair, member of our Freethinkers Planning Team, will lead us in a stimulating discussion of both the historic and current interpretations of these famous words, offering traditional and conventional interpretations as well as contemporary twists to contemplate. We owe him a great debt of thanks for stepping into the presenter role when Brenda Laurel had to cancel her presentation on consciousness, AI and sense of place. Please join us for this lively discussion with Kalb. Bring your questions and your ideas!
We are sad to announce that Dorothy Bracey, dedicated member of our planning team, has moved to Arizona. We desperately need some other creative people to join the Freethinker team which plans topics and activities. We welcome online participants as well as those who participate in person to share their suggestions and help us keep Freethinkers Forum alive and well! Contact Mary Ellen or Mim if you are interested, or have suggestions of people you'd like to propose.
Freethinkers Forum meets the second Sunday of every month from noon - 1:30 pm in a hybrid format, in person at UU Santa Fe on the corner of Barcelona and Galisteo, and via zoom. To get the zoom link, go to Events on our meetup site, and click that you will attend, then you can access the zoom link at the Online event icon.
We are a gathering of freethinkers and humanists, people from all faiths or none, who come together to discuss collaboratively-chosen topics, to listen with open minds, share with open hearts, work together on social activism projects and share supportive community. Our general format is a short presentation followed by an hour or so of open discussion of the subject. All are welcome, and all outlooks on the topics are respected. We aim to learn from each other and celebrate our diversity!
