The hosts of this event are Margaret Downey and Memo Benumea. The welcome speaker will be actor, producer, and director Jon Huertas.

Author Dale McGowan will present a speech entitled “The Death Problem.” His research supports the idea that death is the defining feature of human existence, the skeleton key (so to speak) unlocks who we are, reaching into nearly everything you think, feel, and do.

Dan Barker will honor the life of his beloved brother Darrell Barker. Annie Laurie Gaylor will be honoring American journalist, writer, feminist, and political activist Gloria Steinem. Benumea will honor the life of writer, editor, and artist Adalisa Zárate. David Tamayo, founder and president of Hispanic American Freethinkers, will honor the life of his mother-in-law Domitila Castillo-Tapia.

Cohosting groups are American Humanist Association, Black Nonbelievers, Center for Inquiry, Freedom From Religion Foundation, Freethought Society, Hispanic American Freethinkers, and the Secular Coalition for America.
