Via Ferrata 2024 (part of Wild West Virginia Week)

This is the start of WILD WEST VIRGINIA WEEK.
The Via Ferrata is a fun climb and I organize a group every year. If you have a great fear of heights, do NOT attempt this activity. You do not have to have rock climbing experience to participate. NROCKS is located near Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob in WV, (about 6 hours from Cleveland)

I always recommend not reading too much about the climb ahead of time, because the discovery is part of the fun of it! But here is some information:

ACT NOW to reserve a room at the lodge. The campground is not available for this trip, but if you really want to camp, you can find area camping at Yoakum's Vacationland. Lodge rooms cost $91.28 for a room with a full bed and a set of bunk beds, (2 twins), and a full bathroom. Some rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. All are air-conditioned and include bedding.
Call 1-540-437-9901 (NROCKS) to reserve a lodge room. Indicate in the comments if you are looking for people to bunk with you.

To reserve your climb, send $145.55 to me via PayPal by June 1st.

More details:
Make sure you have directions before you get close - there is not much GPS around there because of a big radio telescope nearby.
Arriving after dark Friday night can be a little tricky. As you approach, look for a yellow house with a lodge behind it. I'll be on the lodge porch to greet you between 7pm and 10pm, drinking Michelob Ultra lol.

Bring everything you need because not much shopping is available in the area. Ice and firewood is sold at the lodge; there is a big firepit in front of the lodge.

Saturday you can bring your own breakfast or we can go to the Gateway Restaurant, a home-cooking pretty good place, and the only restaurant around. Bring everything you need because not much shopping is available.

The climb is at 11am on Saturday - we need to have our waivers signed, (online or in the lodge lobby) - by 10:40am. If you decide to come Saturday morning instead of Friday night, be there by 10:00am to stretch and get settled before the climb.
The climb will last 3-5 hours.

After you have chilled out and stretched a little bit, there may be time to do a hike before dinner.

You can prepare your own dinner with a jet boil or something similar, or go to the Gateway Lodge for dinner, and then drive up to the top of Spruce Knob for sunset about 8:30pm.

There are additional activities you can sign up for at NROCKS. I am not signing up for anything else because there is a lot of adventure yet to come during Wild West Virginia Week.

If you are continuing on the Wild West Virginia Week Adventure, be on the front porch with a full belly, packed up and ready to go at 8am Sunday.
