All aboard, for the Conch Train to party in Key West!
Everyone can do what he likes, but this is my plan:

Take the Key West Express ferry from Fort Myers Beach to Key West, with camping gear in a backpack plus a carry-along cooler, (two carry-on size bags are allowed).
Board the ferry at 7am, arriving in Key West about 11am, (3-1/2 hour ride).
Camp at Boyd's Campground in a waterfront primitive site.
Uber or take the bus to get down to where the action is, and play all weekend.
Take the Key West Express ferry from Key West to Fort Myers Beach on Sunday, boarding at 5pm and arriving about 9pm.
I will reserve a place to stay in Ft. Myers Beach near the ferry on Thursday night and Sunday nights, planning to work a half day on Monday and then head on to the Everglades, where I will work from an AirBnb and visit my cousin until the Everglades leg starts the following weekend.

The cost for roundtrip fare plus three days of parking is $185. There is a special now for $119, but is not cancellable.

I have a waterfront primitive site reserved. Reserve yours by calling 1-305-294-1465 and say you are with Linda, so your site will be near mine. The cost for camping is $110/night plus tax for a primitive waterfront site for 2 people and $15 per additional person up to 4 people. Without cars, I'm told we can easily fit two 4-person tents on a site.

Pay for the first night now, and the second upon arrival. The reservation is cancellable up to one week before arrival, for a refund minus $25.

Check-in is at 1pm, but we can call the day before and see if we can set up earlier. Likewise, on Sunday after checkout (11am), we can stash our gear in the game room and pick it up when it is time to get to the ferry.

Everyone can do what he likes - we may all decide to go in together on an AirBnB but lodging in Key West is NOT CHEAP.

Also, if you are unfamiliar with Key West, know that it is a fairly wild place, (think Put-in-Bay), so make your plans accordingly. This trip may not be for everyone.

I looked into doing a day trip to the Dry Tortugas, but it is expensive: $235. There is plenty to do in Key West, so I personally am opting out of this.

As the date gets closer, we can see what everyone wants to do.
