French Discussion Workshop – Edinburgh

Looking for a chance to really speak French, without worrying about grammar drills or exercises? Our French Discussion Workshop is all about conversation. It’s designed for learners from around B1 level and above who aren’t afraid to speak only French and share their ideas (it doesn’t have to be perfect - at all!!).

How does it work?
Before each class, you’ll receive articles/videos on a thought-provoking topic. You’ll take a little time to look it over, think about your opinion, and then bring it with you to class. Once we’re together, we’ll launch into a guided discussion, sharing thoughts, bouncing ideas around, and exploring the subject in French only. So it’s all about chatting and having fun in French for an hour!

Every week the topic changes, and the conversation often takes its own path (as real discussions do!). The focus isn’t on being perfect, it’s on speaking, laughing, listening, and naturally enjoying French. The goal is simple: for an hour, you’ll feel like you’re in France.

📆 Calendar: IN-PERSON: From the 2nd of October, you’ll have an hour class every Thursday at 7:30 pm for 5 weeks until the 30th of October.

🗣You'll be learning from Emma, a native French Speaker, so you’ll experience how French is truly spoken—not from an app or a textbook!

The class is open for only 6 students to keep the class small and cosy, but mostly unsure everyone can practice and ask questions.

We'll meet in the famous French cosy café La Barantine in Stockbridge after it’s closed, which makes it feel more like hanging out than a formal lesson - indeed don't expect a "rigid" approach such as formal institutions.

Students who come are super friendly and motivated—not just to learn French, but to enjoy some time with interesting and nice people. So my classes are all about learning and having a good time together.
