French Post-beginners course - in Edinburgh

Join our French corner in Bruntsfield for an 8-week course!

🗣You'll be learning from a native French Speaker, so you’ll experience how French is truly spoken—not from an app or a textbook!

The class is open for only 6 students to keep the class small and cosy, but mostly unsure everyone can practice and ask questions.

We'll meet in the famous French cosy café La Barantine after it’s closed, which makes it feel more like hanging out than a formal lesson - indeed don't expect a "rigid" approach such as formal institutions.

This group is ideal for advanced beginners, students who can already manage simple conversations and are starting to feel more comfortable expressing themselves in French, even if it’s slowly. You should already be familiar and be able to speak in the present tense, the past tense (passé composé) and the near future (futur proche), even if they’re not perfect yet. In the previous block, we started covering “the conditional tense” with a few verbs ( i.e: je serais, j’aurais, je voudrais, je pourrais, je devrais), so it would be good for you to know them.

🧑‍🏫 The class will be conducted by Louise, from Lyon in France, a really experienced native French teacher.

📆 Calendar: IN-PERSON: From the 11th of June, you’ll have an hour class every Thursday at 5 pm for 8 weeks until the 30th of July. If you miss a class, you’ll still get the material and some explanations from me, so then no excuse to keep practising your French every week!

Students who come are super friendly and motivated—not just to learn French, but to enjoy some time with interesting and nice people. So my classes are all about learning and having a good time together.

Every class includes homework and different types of exercises to help you keep a good routine outside of the class. You'll get all the materials on a printed and online version, before/after each class, meaning you don't need to buy a book.
