Monthly Meeting - Photographing People by Erin Koch

Details
Monthly Topic is
For this meeting there will be a focus and discussion of photographing people. I will be highlighting specific details used and examples of how I curated a project of photographing people and documenting their stories. This was a year long project, I selected specific individuals based on career or title, photographing them in their natural setting.
The core idea behind this project was that everyone has a story regardless of their physical appearance, status, title or occupation. During this meeting I will include photographers of whom I got inspiration from and similar projects that have been completed since mine in 2013. Photographer: Robin Bowman is the main influence with her project The American Teenager. Other examples are Newsum in DC, Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton and Soft White Underbelly by Mark Laita.
I will be displaying photographs from my project along with a select few stories. Many of the topics previously covered in past meetings are applicable to photographing people. We will be discussing the project, images, photo quality, camera settings, locations, lighting, legality and consent of photographing strangers, different fields of photographing people (street photography, portraits, family, wedding, etc). My hope is to continue with this project with some input or guidance from members in this group!
