Coding Dojo: Application Security with Smithy Security and Hands-on Hacking

This special edition Coding Dojo for Cyber Security Month, brings the focus to software and application security. With so many of us involved with software development, this session gives you the ins and outs of what we in the security would look for.

Why is application security so important? From compromised libraries or leaving a password in plain text, to leaving an input field vulnerable to SQLi. This session will allow you to look at applications from the mind of a hacker, what do they look for, how do they get in? But more importantly, how do you protect against them and how can it be done easily without too much impact. For this Smithy Security will be on hand to show their platform and the "App sec in a box" solution they have developed, automating and orchestrating application security testing and making it simple. Still not enough? After the presentations, time to apply all the information you just learnt with a hands on hacking and CTF session, the FreshMinds Security Red Teamers will take you through the basics and show you how to be a hacker!
