What we’re about

Fresno Ladies Book Clubs is a casual, positive book club that doesn’t follow the typical guided discussion. We encourage a freeform, open conversation about our connections. Our main goal is to have fun and support one another. This is a wonderful, inclusive group for Fresno women to get together to enthuse about books and make girlfriends! We will meet at book stores, cafes, restaurants and brunch spots to read together and converse. We are currently hosting 4 different book clubs, which are:

  • A General Book Club (range of genres)
  • A Fantasy Book Club
  • A Horror Book Club
  • A Non-Fiction Book Club

Each event runs a little differently, so please check the description of the event postings for accurate information! We hope to see you very soon!

FLBC Group Rules:

  1. Be kind, cordial, and supportive. No harassment, bullying, or hate speech of any sort. We strive to be a safe, inclusive women’s group above all else. Report any harmful member situations or behaviors to the admins.
  2. REQUIREMENT: You must have a profile picture of yourself at all times. If removed or changed to something other than your face, you may be removed from the group. You are welcome to rejoin the group once you meet our requirements. It’s important for all of us as a local group to be interacting with members who are accurately representing themselves.
  3. REQUIREMENT: You must have your display name be one you go by in real life. If removed or changed to something other than your name, you may be removed from the group. You are welcome to rejoin the group once you meet our requirements. It’s important for all of us as a local group to be interacting with members who are accurately representing themselves.
  4. REQUIREMENT: You are responsible for purchasing/accessing the title we’re reading if you’d like to participate fully in our book club experience. For each event, there will be a list of accurate options on how to obtain the book if you have any trouble finding it (check the “WHERE TO ACCESS THE TITLE” section in the applicable event postings to see more).
  5. REQUIREMENT: You are responsible for any purchases that you decide to make at our meeting spots (meals, snacks, beverages, books, etc).
  6. RSVP POLICY: You may be subject to group removal for too many RSVPs but no showing the events. Sometimes we only have limited seating, so please be courteous to others and change your RSVP to “not going” a good time before the event starts to be fair to the members who can actually go. Or if something comes up, you can always reach out to the admins to coordinate so we can change your RSVP for you. Just be honest with yourself and others about whether or not you can actually attend! We only enforce this because we are a local women’s group and we all deserve to interact with others who are being earnest.
  7. POLL POLICY: You may be subject to group removal if you vote in too many book voting polls for meetings that you aren’t actually showing up to. Book voting polls are for members who want to be interactive in our book club and are attending our events with intention (check the “ABOUT POLLS” section in the applicable event postings to see more). It’s okay if you vote in a poll and aren’t able to go to the event every so often (because obviously life happens. We get it!) Voting isn’t a requirement, so you don’t always have to participate in it, especially if you’re not going to the event. However, if you’ve been voting but continuously haven’t been attending, it is not fair to the members who are taking this group sincerely and you will be removed. Just be honest with yourself and others about whether or not you can actually attend! We only enforce this because we are a local women’s group and we all deserve to interact with others who are being earnest.
  8. INACTIVITY POLICY: Long-term inactive members may be removed at any time. You are welcome to rejoin if you have been removed for inactivity.
