You won't want to miss our visit to landmarks rich in African American history: the Herndon Home and the Hammonds House. The Herndon Home is a mansion built by African American craftsmen for former slave turned millionaire, Alonzo Herndon. The home is on the National Registry of Historic Places, is stately, and rich in early African American history. The home is only open by pre-arranged group scheduling, and we have secured a special tour for BNN.
After we finish touring the Herndon Home, we'll head to Paschal's Restaurant in Castleberry Hills for a soul food lunch and following lunch, we'll have an optional visit to the Hammonds House Museum -a fine arts venue whose mission is to preserve, exhibit, and increase public awareness about the contributions that visual artists of African descent have made to world culture.
