What we’re about
About the Group
Finding new and meaningful connections as an adult can be tough, and so Friend Vibes Only was created by Alexis Briggs and Valencia Ortiz to be a portable third space in the DMV created for Black women (ages 25–40) to meet, make friends, and build community outside of work and home. This group celebrates the diversity of Black women, welcoming people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences.
About the Events
This group is all about low-pressure, free-to-low-cost events that provide an opportunity to meet new people and have fun. Past events have included a game night at a board game-themed bar and a night at the museum event. We'll continue to explore the DMV through casual coffee/tea chats, cultural outings, and other laid-back ways to connect with 1-2 events a month.
We do our best to make sure events happen as scheduled, and cancellations only occur due to things like low interest and unforeseen circustances (e.g., rainy weather forecast for outdoor events). We ask that you RSVP with the intention to attend an event as it really helps us hosts plan ahead of time.
Looking Ahead
For now, the group will be active until the end of June, and we’re excited to see how it grows! We’d love to keep it going, and we’re exploring ways to make that happen based on interest and engagement. If you have ideas for events and/or would like to co-host a meetup with us, let us know-we'd love to collaborate!
