Join me at our wonderful Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) as The Duke's Theatre Company return to BOAT for a 4th consecutive season with the premiere of their new production of Shakespeare's beloved comedy, "As You Like It".
Hope lots of you can make it - doors open at 6 pm for a 7 pm start - I'm planning to get there about 6.15 pm, and if I have time, may get fish & chips from the chippie opposite the Tesco Express/Esso Garage (takes 10-15 mins though), or else I'll bring a picnic - or pick up a Tesco's meal deal. There's a great little bar at the venue (and, for the last couple of years, loos!)
Book your own ticket (£15/£13.50) for the FRIDAY night performance at:-

Since its opening in 2015 BOAT has gone from strength to strength and is now well established as part of Brighton and Hove’s cultural landscape. This is its 10th anniversary year, and lots of us have been going right from the very beginning (and we NEVER forget to bring a CUSHION to sit on or our wind / waterproofs!!)
*The ancient Forest of Arden serves as the backdrop for Shakespeare’s most famous and quotable comedy. When Rosalind is banished from Duke Ferdinand’s court, new identities are explored with hilarious consequences. Music, mayhem and madness thrill as we are shown that “All the world’s a stage”.
Back for a fourth Summer Season, The Duke’s Theatre Co follow their acclaimed tours of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night. Kevin Bennett, (Shakespeare’s Globe, Stratford Festival, Ontario) directs this brand-new tour, which premieres at BOAT.
This As You Like It will live on in your memory “forever and a day”."
Note: Be prepared for any weather. PLEASE bring a fleece, a rug - or preferably both! (It sometimes gets chilly later!) And definitely a CUSHION to sit on - the fake grass seating tends to get harder the longer you sit on it - and it retains moisture if it's been raining earlier! Waterproofs/ brolly/ sunscreen/ a hat / whatever!!
