What are the details for this hike?...
A thoroughly enjoyable hiking experience and a firm favourite that has not been repeated for over a year. As always - first-timers and returners are welcome, so add your name to the attendees list now to make sure you don't miss this one.
The Burton Dassett Hills are a much-loved area of natural beauty, and several people recommended we do a Friendly Faces hike there.
So this scenic and carefully plotted route features the picturesque village of North End, the Burton Dassett Hills and Fenny Compton, and takes us through some of the remotest countryside you have ever seen.
The dreamy setting together with the outstanding views and scenery make this a superb route from start to finish, but please note that there are inclines and declines along this route, and some areas with uneven terrain (including clumpy earth) underfoot, so it's important that you wear some sturdy footwear that supports your ankles.
When we're done - as always - we'll find a pub! We'll jump back in the cars and drive round the corner to the very excellent pub The Yew Tree for a well earned sit down, drink, and final chinwag before setting off home.
This opportunity to get outdoors and meet new people will have you breathing in deep lungful's of fresh air as your eyes relax upon the scenery, and you'll be chatting away with like-minded people as you go. If you'd seen it and done it already, you would certainly encourage others to get involved too.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Despite the delightful views and peaceful natural beauty for the full length of the route, please be warned that this event is not for the faint-hearted, and there are a few steep hills along the way which some will consider challenging. So please consider your ability to cover this distance before signing up.
We'll take sit down for snacks/refreshment at the half way point to break up the distance.
I really hope you qualify to attend. Notwithstanding the warm and sociable Friendly Faces group members (first-timers and regulars) that you will share this experience with - this is a truly magnificent walking route, and in a few months time you will look back on it and smile as you think back to it.
Getting there?...

Don't forget to offer a few pounds to your driver towards petrol money.

EVENT SUMMARY / IMPORTANT POINTS
- To find out how to become a full Friendly Faces group member, read here... https://www.meetup.com/friendlyfaces/events/305407432/
- This event starts at 12pm. Do not be late. Make sure you arrive early enough to get parked, and be ready at the start point for this time or we may leave without you.
- To attend this hiking event you must be physically active, in good health, free from injury, and have experience of covering this distance in one go. If you are not all of these things - please remove yourself from the attendees list.
- Dogs ARE NOT allowed 🐶❌ to attend this event. This is due to close proximity with farm animals and pathways through farmers land.
- Due to the uneven terrain, you are advised to wear (or if you don't already own - invest in) some good quality ankle-protecting waterproof footwear - for this and the varied subsequent Friendly Faces hikes. Trainers may not protect you from an injury - which could bring an unpopular end to the event for everyone, so please be sensible (and considerate to others) with your choice of footwear.
