What we’re about
If you're aged between 25 and 50 and looking to meet more people / make new friends, then why not take a bold (but easy) step towards doing something about it, and attend one of the many social events with members of the super-sociable group, the Friendly Faces of Warwickshire.
We enjoy a variety of scheduled events in Leamington, Warwick, Stratford and the surrounding area, where new and regular members meet as a group to network as part of sociable / enjoyable activities. The events to choose from usually take place at the weekend, and can include countryside walks and hikes, gathering in bars, coffee shops or restaurants, going to indoor / outdoor cinemas, pool halls, festivals, tribute bands, stage shows… the list goes on.
To get involved simply browse the events page and then click the 'Attend' button on the events you like the look of.
At each of these events, you’ll meet the members - potential new friends from all walks of life and just like you in wanting to improve their social lives. They will make you feel very welcome as another valued contributor to what makes our events into special occasions to remember for all involved. It's normal to feel a little bit of apprehension about your first meeting, which is something we all have to go through. After you've broken the ice for the first time, you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about and be eager to put your name down to attend another!
If you keep attending, you'll recognise people you met at past events and start to grow commonalities and friendships with the people you connect well with.
Attending a FFW event by yourself is perfectly fine and it's what many people do. The attendees at each event are never the same.. each one consists of a combination of first-timers, seasoned members and everything in between, so there will be other new like-minded attendees just like you, whatever your situation.
The reality is, we're all like you and looking for opportunities to be sociable. We genuinely hope that you decide to get involved. When you do, we will look forward to meeting you.
Months from now you’ll look back on this moment that you took action with a smile, and be really glad you did!
You are always free to leave an event early should you decide at any stage that you want to / need to leave for whatever reason. You will not be judged.
Whatever you do, don't assume that you know how an event will be - just rock up for one and see what you think. Many members have done so and since said they were glad they did.
So ask yourself out loud: "What have I got to lose?"
And then hit that join button. 😊

FF: Halloween Fancy-Dress / Social in Leamington
The White Horse, Clarendon Avenue, Leamington Spa, GBIts Halloween! What better excuse do we need to dress up in our best spooky costumes, scary makeup or freakish masks, and get out there and frighten the living daylights out of the Leamington revellers who will all be doing the same.
There is no better conversation starter than a costume!First thing to do... have a watch of my 3-minute briefing video for this event. I recorded it for our Halloween night out in 2023 and used it again in 2024.
Everything is the same for this years event apart from the starting venue.
Challenge: Can you spot the monster in the video?
(Clue: He appears twice)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pttG2wt6e1cBeing a fancy-dress event its assumed you will get involved in the costume/makeup side of things. If you come along in normal attire others will wonder if you didn't get the memo! We've seen some amazing costumes from you in previous years. Lets see what your imagination can create this time.
I hear some of you have already decided on outfits/accessories, so I cant wait to see!Halloween is a rare opportunity in the year to shamelessly dress up and pretend to be a monster / zombie / witch / blood-stained axe-murderer / skeleton / ghost / etc... and to enjoy getting into the character. You can let your hair down and your creativity run free - all in the name of fun.
It's going to be a super social event with even the non-meetup revellers getting into the spirit of things, providing lots to see and to chat / have a laugh about.
So this event combines that with the safe familiarity of a meetup, where we know we can all take advantage of plenty of opportunities to socialise and meet like-minded new people.
To miss this unique fancy-dress / social occasion combo would be a travesty. We'll start in the White Horse and maybe move on to another venue as the mood takes us.
Looking forward to seeing all you ghouls, monsters and the undead at 7.30pm!UPDATE : Anyone still looking for some last-minute fancy-dress gear, here are the big three places locally, and all are packed with big selections of amazing Halloween outfits and accessories to choose from and ideas to inspire you...

Chesterton / Harbury (CV33 9LG) 7-mile hike
Chesterton Windmill, Chesterton Windmilll Windmill Lane Off the B4455 Fosse Way Chesterton CV33 9LB, chesterton, GBWhether you're new to Friendly Faces or you're a seasoned regular, click the Attend button now and take full advantage of this tried and tested hike which will get you (1) out of the house, (2) exercising, and (3) meeting friendly, like-minded people with ease.
What are the details for this hike?
A huge thanks to Dan for 'donating' this fantastic hiking route to the group which he knew so well and had recommended we check out.
After going along with him for an initial guided tour, and then a second visit to make a few adjustments - a fantastic route was constructed for your enjoyment, and it cannot be missed...
Mostly flat with some gentle slopes, this route is incredibly scenic throughout, sweeping through some of the most remote landscape that you could possibly imagine.
Far away from the bright screens and the noise of civilisation, you can see for long distances in every direction and all you can hear is the rustling of the trees, maybe a few birds, and the occasional noise from cattle. You will surely take away a collection of amazing photos to remember the occasion by.
We'll park up in-front of St Giles church (on the grass if necessary) and set off at bang on 12pm along the well-trodden paths and walkways.
When we're done, we'll call in at a nearby pub and grab a well-earned sit down and drink to end the day.Need a lift?...
If you aren't a driver and would like a lift to and from the starting point, leave a message here on the event page (as soon as you sign up) asking if anyone is kind enough to offer. Do that now, because leaving that question until the last few days before the event is too late.
Don't forget to offer a few pounds to your driver towards petrol money.Where will we start?...
Use the map link below to find the meet point which is outside Saint Giles Church.
IMPORTANT : Parking-space markings are not defined so please park side-by-side (not end to end) on the grass so that we can all squeeze into the parking area.

- Unfortunately dogs are not allowed 🐶❌ to attend this event due to there being a VAST amount of sheep and assorted other livestock along the route.
- At this event you'll have a fantastic outdoorsy afternoon out, you'll meet a warm group of super-social Friendly Faces (including first-timers as always) and you'll be amazed at how easy it is to make new acquaintances / connections along the way.Feel free to drop me a private message if you have any questions.
If not - click the big red "Attend" button now to make sure you don't forget.EVENT SUMMARY / IMPORTANT POINTS
- To find out how to become a full Friendly Faces group member, read here... https://www.meetup.com/friendlyfaces/events/305407432/
- This event starts at 12pm. Do not be late. Make sure you arrive early enough to get parked, and be ready at the start point for this time or we may leave without you.
- To attend this hiking event you must be physically active, in good health, free from injury, and have experience of covering this distance in one go. If you are not all of these things - please remove yourself from the attendees list.
- Dogs ARE NOT allowed 🐶❌ to attend this event. This is due to close proximity with farm animals and pathways through farmers land.
- Due to the uneven terrain, you are advised to wear (or if you don't already own - invest in) some good quality ankle-protecting waterproof footwear - for this and the varied subsequent Friendly Faces hikes. Trainers may not protect you from an injury - which could bring an unpopular end to the event for everyone, so please be sensible (and considerate to others) with your choice of footwear.
