A day in Kah-nee-ta : Hike and Swim ( without dogs )

Treat yourself to a day of swimming, hiking, and eating at beautiful Kah-nee-ta, 11 miles north of Warm Springs. Please read this carefully as you need to do five things to set this up: 1) The 90-minute drive from Bend is well worth it. You may wish to carpool with others or you may find it more flexible to drive your own car so you can decide how much of the day you wish to spend there. Carpooling will be arranged at Oliver Lemon’s in Terrebonne when the group is all together, assuming there are people who wish to carpool. Come prepared to drive yourself (with a full tank of gas), if necessary. We will have two meet-up locations: Mud Bay (north Bend, 20520 Robal Lane) at 9:00 a.m. and Oliver Lemon’s in Terrebonne at 9:40 a.m. PLS MENTION IN COMMENTS WHERE WE SHOULD EXPECT YOU and if you are ready to take some passengers in your car ! 2) Once arrived, we will go for a hike that is about 3 miles long on tribal land, depending on routes we choose. It is gorgeous but very steep in many places so please have your poles with you as well as good boots, hat, sunscreen, water, and be prepared for varying weather. Bring a sack lunch. We will stop and eat on the hike. 3) For those who wish, we will swim and soak in the delightful Kah-Nee-Ta pools following the hike. YOU NEED TO GOOGLE KAH-NEE-TA AND BUY THE $29 DAY USE FEE ONLINE. THIS WILL COVER THE HIKE, THE POOLS, AND ALSO SUPPORT THE TRIBE. This is important! This needs to be done in advance so you don’t delay our group. 4) Dogs must be left at home. It would too hot for them and they are not allowed by the pools. 5) In addition to your sack lunch, you may wish to buy food from the restaurant beside the pools. On the scouting trip, Lynda and Alison enjoyed their fly bread with huckleberry jam, and I loved my Southwest wrap and beer. The menu is extensive with healthy options. I suggest heading back around 5:00 p.m. but you are free to stay as long or as short as you like. If you decide to carpool, the timing must be agreed upon together. We had a beautiful and relaxing day scouting this out and think you will love it, too.
