Hike to see the strawberry moon rise on Lava Butte (Dog friendly )

The strawberry moon will illuminate the sky from June 9-12 and be at its fullest at midnight of the 11th. On Monday ,the 9th the moon will rise at 7:57pm, which is a good time to view it from the Lava Butte Lookout .It is always a treat to see a sunset/ moonrise up on Lava Butte : You get exercise(4.5 miles round trip and about 1000 ft elevation gain ) watch a sunset and share snacks and drinks with nice folks up high .PLS B.Y.O.B AND BRING A SNACK TO SHARE: there is a cool picnic bench up there , where we like to sit and talk . There is always a nice breeze up there -and we get to look at the mural of all the buttes and mountains in the lookout station -and tell stories about our hiking adventures on said mountains and buttes .MEET US AT THE PARKING LOT CLOSE TO THE GATE THAT BLOCKS CARS FROM DRIVING UP THERE AT NIGHT. CHECK IN THE DAY BEFORE BECAUSE SMOKE AND EXCESSIVE HEAT MIGHT CHANGE OUR PLANS...Dress a bit warmer as it gets cold as the sun sets ...
