Newbury canal circular walk and lunch in town

Details
It's always been wet, wet, wet when we've done this walk before ? Possibly, it still will be even in May (!) but we can still enjoy the water and avoid the mud by exploring the beautiful canal path around Newbury. We've done this one before and it's a short easy circular walk with some nice bridge crossings and views of the river (although still wear sensible shoes/ boots if it's rained). A perfect dog-friendly trail with some grazing livestock in contained fields but no direct access from the trail. Stunning views with easy terrain and then on the way back to the car park and/or lunch - preferably lunch - or a cream tea/ coffee on the wharf!
We can park up and meet at Northcroft Leisure Centre and lunch at somewhere to be agreed on the day - yes?
And anyone who'd like to take over the lead of the walk, you are very welcome, as I have a notoriously dodgy sense of direction. ;)
