If you often find yourself looking for a hiking route that is more about the journey than the destination, then the Old CC Spur Trail is a great option in the San Bernardino National Forest. Located just northwest of San Bernardino, this route features undulating terrain and nice views of the surrounding landscape.

We will start hiking by 10:00 am, heading for the shores of Lytle Creek. We will strip down at the ford to cross the year-round waterway. The climb between Lytle Creek and the first transmission tower requires boulder hopping, but the unmaintained road begins just past the tower and begins climbing towards Big Tree Cucamonga Road. We’ll have lunch in a shady gorge just before the road junction before heading back down to the cars. 7.2 mile round trip, 1,280 feet of climb.

DIRECTIONS:
From the 15 Fwy, take exit 119 for Sierra Ave. Turn towards the Lytle Creek Recreation Area. Drive 3.3 miles to a wide turnout on the left across from the transmission tower at the bottom of a tributary canyon. Adventure Pass required.
