Join the Office of Volunteerism to get acquainted with volunteering at Pocahontas State Park!

Attendees will...
-Gain knowledge of how/where/when to volunteer in the park.
-Benefits of being a state park volunteer.
-Understand volunteer guidelines, expectations and safety.

Coffee and lite snacks will be provided.

Every Thursday we stock the campground with fresh firewood. If we have extra time we may split some too! Keeping the parks campers supplied with lots of split firewood not only protects the park from invasive pests but also generates thousands of dollars which can be reinvested in the park. No experience required!! Plus all of the hours accumulate toward free park passes and other rewards. It's a fun job with great people and great socializing.

## Meeting Place: New Cabin Area

For our final week of site assessments, we will meet at the new cabin area to review tree planting opportunities, then move to the rain garden at the visitor center followed by the governor's garden and the CCC museum.

In general, we typically work in the park managing the gardens, installing new plants, transplanting and weeding to keep the park looking good and healthy. No experience required. Bring your favorite garden tools, kneeling pad and gloves. You may also want to bring water and a light snack. As you accumulate volunteer hours it will allow you to earn a state-wide park pass and other rewards.
