Historical Site Hike
Details
Sure, you've probably seen the Hutchinson Homestead. You may even have sat on the bench by the chimney on your way to or from the Upper Trailhead parking lot. But did you know there are DOZENS on historical sites, structures, and stills hidden (and not so hidden) throughout the park? This Saturday, Joe Mickey, one of the, if not THE, most knowledgeable local experts on historical sites in and around the park will be leading a hike to a few of his favorite hidden gems: the largest standing historical home structure in the park, one of the park's many graveyards, and the site of an old schoolhouse.
This hike will be strenuous and will involve traipsing off-trail for more than three hours, so please come prepared with appropriate attire, footwear, snacks, water, and energy. This won't be easy, but is a rare opportunity to see things that 99% of park visitors never get to!
