Details

This hike starts at the end of Gardena Avenue and proceeds through a short portion of habitat being restored. The trail then climbs steeply up the side of the canyon through nearly pristine coastal Sage scrub, including California sagebrush, black sage, and coastal desert thorn. Once the trail peaks near the September Street entrance, it descends steeply through an extensive patch of coast cholla cactus, continuing down to near Tecolote Canyon Creek and a riparian habitat. There are some short steep slopes to climb and descend but the effort is worth it to see one of the most pristine areas in Tecolote Canyon.

Distance: About 1 mile.
