Wilderness Clearing Trip - Topper Lake (Registration Required)

This is a self-supported backpack trip into the west side of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). At noon on Saturday, crew members will meet at Rockwood Lodge to collect provided hand tools and safety gear. After a short carpool to the Mucker Lake trailhead, we’ll backpack approximately 1.7 miles from the trailhead to the Topper Lake campsite. We'll clear deadfalls and brush between the Topper Lake and Sock Lake campsites.
## Trip Details
When: Saturday, September 16 to Tuesday, September 19
Meeting Time: Noon on Saturday
Meeting Location: Rockwood Lodge and Outfitters (50 Rockwood Road, Grand Marais, MN 55604)
Camping Details: Basecamp at Topper Lake campsite (about 1.7 miles from trailhead)
We provide: Permit, tools and safety gear
You will need to bring: Personal gear (tent, cookware, etc), meals, snacks, hydration, etc.

## Registration Information
Fee: $25 (those who show up can choose to have this fee refunded or donated to the BRTA)
Maximum participants: 9 (including crew leader)
How to register:
- Visit our website complete the registration form & pay the registration fee.
- Complete a Volunteer-in-Parks (VIP) Individual Service Agreement. The VIP program provides important protection for volunteers. All VIPs are entitled to the same injury considerations that NPS employees receive (provided they are operating within their approved scope of duties and NPS policies). Additionally, VIPs are recognized for their contributions and earn annual recognition items based on hours of service and are eligible to attend certain skills and leadership training.
