Canal and Fishway Tour

Two tours in one!
Holyoke’s canals were key to making this planned industrial city. Easy 1.5-mile walking tour of 1st and 2nd level canals. Discover how they were built and how they work. Our walk takes us to Holyoke Gas & Electric’s Robert E. Barrett Fishway, where we meet a Fishway Guide to take us on a 1-hour tour into the powerhouse to see the fish lift and view the fish migrating up the Connecticut River. We return on foot to the park visitor center.

Tours are free and open to the public. Meet at Holyoke Heritage State Park Visitor Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather. Severe weather cancels.
