Compass and Navigation Fundamentals and I-naturalist Training

The Compass Basics course is designed for beginners and experienced navigators interested in learning or refreshing the basics of compass navigation and outdoor orientation skills. In addition, we’re excited to add a INaturalist practice training. This free hands-on workshop will be held at Gemini Springs Park in DeBary, Florida, providing an ideal natural setting for practical learning. Begins at 9:00 AM and runs for approximately 3 hours, giving participants ample time to practice essential compass techniques and practice iNaturalist. Please bring your compass if you have one; some compasses will be available to share for those who need them. Please have your inaturalist app on your phone. “Base Plate Compass", pictured, is suggested and a great addition to include in your backpack. By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of using a compass for basic navigation and understanding directional concepts in outdoor environments plus a better understanding of using iNaturalist. Feel free to bring lunch. There are several areas available for a picnic lunch.
Also bring water, suntan lotion and bug spray.
