Hike and Camp Bonito Creek - Bet you have not BEEN there - Memorial Day Weekend
• What we'll do BONITO CREEK Day Hike, Fish and Car Camp - White Mountains Sat - Mon, May 26 - 28 Leader: Paul Hiegel ([masked]) Length: As much or little as you want Phone:[masked] Rating: Moderate --------MEET in the south end of the Home Depot parking lot, Superstitions Springs and Power Rd, 8:00 AM--------- Bonito Creek is on the White Mountain Apache Reservation and will take about four hours of windshield time. This trip does require a high clearance vehicle if you choose to drive. The camping permit is $9.00 dollars a day per vehicle and $9.00 dollars a day for a fishing permit per person if you plan to fish. This weekend will take us into the back-country of the White Mountains at an elevation of 6,000 to 6,500 feet where you could see elk, deer, turkey, and black bear. This year we will be hiking from our camp location down the creek---- because we are creek hiking, be prepared to get your feet and possibly your body wet. The length of hike is determined by you, you can turn around at any time and head back up the creek to our camp site. We will be returning mid-morning on Monday and head back through the Show Low area and treat ourselves to one of the local restaurants. We should return to the Valley that afternoon.

Welcome to Friends Camping, Hiking and Outdoor Club. Although new to meetup, we are not a new club. Over our 25+ year history we have organized over 625 outings in 8 states as well as Mexico. We have hiked in Glacier National Park, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, The John Muir Trail, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands and Grand Gulch, UT. - Canyon de Chelly and Chaco Canyon; just to name a few.

Our goal is to provide that 'boost' that we all need to get out there and really SEE Arizona and all it has to offer.

We offer activities for all levels - from Beginner to Advanced - so you're sure to find something to tickle your fancy.

An annual membership in Friends Hiking Club is just $15.00 ($16.75 if paid through Meetup) , or if you'd rather, the per-hike fee is $5.00. Annual dues may be mailed to "FHC - 50 East Myrna - Tempe, Az. 85284" -please include your email address!
