Hike Off-trail to unknown formations

There are some unique formations off Highway 20, so let’s go explore these undiscovered features with an off-trail hike of about 4 miles. We’ll visit MonoPoint, with great views to the North, and continue on to The Walls of Fobbitland. From there, onwards to WoW Mountain, Ponderosa on the Rocks, then a visit to Superwomen Walls before heading back to the beginning point. Probably out about 4 hours. There’s no significant elevation gain, but we’ll be twisting and winding around lava flow formations, and I’ll give an interpretation of the topography and geology of Oregon Badlands Wilderness. The wild flowers might be on show, they were making an appearance off-trail last week.

This hike will give those have normally been on-trail a good perspective of off-trail formations, which are numerous once you get off the regular trails, so asking the “regular” mid-weekers to refrain from signing up. I’d like those Fobbits who haven’t yet really been out with us and “Newbies”, who haven’t been out with us before, to sign up for this unique hike. There’s only 10 spaces.

This is a midweek hike, the first we have done, apart from all the work parties, but c’mon, take a day away from your office and come on into mine!
