Third Annual Wilderness Declaration Celebration
On March 30, 2009, the area known as the Badlands Wilderness Study Area, at the stroke of the Presidents pen, became a fully protected wilderness, as mandated by the Wilderness Act of 1964, and immediately became the Oregon Badlands Wilderness. This will be the Third Annual Wilderness Declaration Celebration.
Many people and organizations worked hard over many years for Oregon Badlands Wilderness to be a reality. Friends of Oregon Badlands Wilderness also helped, as we started our stewardship work two years before the signing, when it was a Wilderness Study Area. We have volunteered thousands of hours over the past 5 years, protecting, preserving and restoring this high desert wilderness jewel. The work we have done has enabled the success to be translated to other pending wilderness.
So, let’s gather, recognize the work, the volunteers and people who made this possible!
GoodLife Brewing Company goodlifebrewing.com will be the location. Great food and microbrews! So come on along and mingle with your fellow volunteers and hikers, and those who made possible the Oregon Badlands Wilderness you have enjoyed so much!
