"Burn-Break-a-Palooza" at Superior Street Prairie

All are invited to help save Superior Street Prairie at the "Burn-Break-a-Palooza" on Saturday, October 10th at 1 PM!

Want to try ecological restoration but don't have experience? All are welcome! Mentorship and good discussion are provided.

*Get coached on using equipment like scythes and brush-cutters to prepare sites for fire
*Collect seeds to restore biodiversity
*Enjoy tasty food
*Go home knowing you made an impact

Learn to prepare a prairie for controlled burns: the prairies, savannas, and wetlands that make Superior Street Prairie a rare gem and biodiversity hotspot evolved with fire - without it, they'll die. "Burn breaks" allow prescribed fire to be kept under control, and make a life or death difference for the ecosystem!

Burn-break-a-palooza will also have opportunities to collect native seeds for restoration!

We'll meet at the ComEd lot at 999 Michigan City Rd in Calumet City, IL.
