Welcome to Friends Social Network!
There are many social groups in Southern California with specific age or target interests, but our group strives to be an open venue for all adults and interests. Meet new friends and do activities together with less restrictions so that you may truly enjoy things you love to do within an open social environment.
As an open general group, we actively do collaborations with other meetup groups to foster greater friendship circle. Anyone can join.

SOCAL PICKLEBALL FRIENDS NETWORK Presents:
In Response to many interest in Pickleball, we are proud to present to you our Official Beginner Introduction Class.
This Class is meant to provide a proper glimpse into the sport of Pickleball. As such, the target population will be for those who have never played a pickleball game or recently played a game of two and are interested in gaining firm basics.
Our instructors are well seasoned Pickleball players who have been providing instructions to many students.
This Class is free and provided to our members as a service. Each class will have about 6 to 7 students and an instructor. *You can take private lessons from instructors beyond this event. If interested, please obtain the contact info from the instructors.
We will try to provide the paddles, but we strongly recommend bringing your own paddle if you can.
The class will be held at Carl Brenner Park in Buena Park, CA.
Instructors:
GREG L. - An Advanced player with focus on control and game play.
JERRY E - One of our original instructor who has taught many students to become intermediate players!
DARREN - A recognized Advanced player with a strong Tennis background.
ANTHONY - Advanced player with power drives.
Dave R - Experienced in providing Pickleball instructions to Beginning players.
Beginner Class Content (1.0 - 2.5)
🔹 1.0 - 1.5: New to pickleball, learning basic rules & strokes.
🔹 2.0: Can hit basic shots (forehand, backhand) but struggles with consistency.
🔹 2.5: Can sustain short rallies, knows the rules, starting to control placement.*If you are unable to attend the class, please update your RSVP as soon as possible so that those on the wait-list can attend, thank you.

- đźš´ Bike Ride from Long Beach to Newport Beach with Lunch at a Thai RestaurantFish Market Restaurant, Long Beach, CA
Join us for a scenic bike ride on the beach bike path and road from Long Beach to the Newport Beach peninsula. We will continue on the ferry to Balboa Island and bike up to Inspiration Point in Corona del Mar. Please bring $4.50 in cash for the ferry to cross from Newport Beach peninsula to Balboa Island and back.
E-bikes are welcome too!

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bike riders who are comfortable and experienced riding their bikes on bike paths and roads who can keep up with our group riding at least 12 miles per hour are welcome to join us. You are required to wear a bike helmet to ride with our group.

Arrive at the parking lot (free parking) at 8:30 AM to get ready.
Meet for introductions and a mandatory safety talk at 8:45 AM.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:
RSVP: If you can't come please change your RSVP to "No" so we are not waiting for you.
BICYCLE: Make sure your bicycle is in good working condition with the tires properly inflated and the chain lubricated prior to the ride.
RULES OF THE ROAD: Safety is always our first concern. Use standard hand signals and obey all traffic stops and signals.
SPARE TIRE TUBES: You need to know how to change your own bicycle tire tubes if you get a flat tire. Please bring 2 spare tire tubes, levers, a small bicycle pump or CO2 cartridges to fill your tires with air once you change the bicycle tire tube. If you don't have spare tire tubes you might have to call a taxi to take you and your bicycle back to your car!
MONEY: Please bring money for your lunch and taxi if necessary.
BIKE LOCK: Don't leave your bicycle unlocked at any time. Please bring your own bicycle lock.
HELMET: Please be advised that you are required to wear a helmet to ride with our group.
WATER and FOOD: Please bring water to drink so you don't get dehydrated and food to eat, such as a protein bar, in case you get hungry.

This special event is proudly sponsored and hosted by David Sanchez, in collaboration with Chana Chiesa from TLC, one of our longtime members and a passionate advocate for the organization’s work. We're excited to bring the community together for a meaningful cause.
About Tilly’s Life Center
TLC addresses the youth mental health crisis through its in-person "I Am Me" program, delivered in schools, hospitals, and community spaces. The program helps teens navigate stress, anxiety, bullying, and social media pressure — building confidence, resilience, and a healthy mindset.🎟️ Ticket Info – $30
Each ticket includes:
• One meal – pizza, burger, or salad
• One beverage – alcoholic or non-alcoholic
• One raffle entry for the grand prize (valued at $390)Grand Prize Includes:

- 11:30 – 12:00 PM – Check-in at the TLC table near the main entrance. Pick up your food and drink vouchers and raffle ticket
- 12:00 – 4:00 PM – Enjoy live music, lawn games, great food and drinks, mingling, and raffle drawings throughout the afternoon (must be present to win)
- 4:00 PM – Event is over, but you're welcome to stick around!
