As these practices in distraction and diversion become the norm, developers are pressured to follow suit.

Together we will look at the difference between influencing genuine user behavior and tricking people through the use of CSS patterns and interactions. Learn how you can add motion into your digital properties in a way that improves usability while staying true to your goals.

Heidi Olsen is currently a Senior Developer at eROI, a full-service creative agency in Old Town that partners with Taco Bell, Nike, Yamaha, and Aramark.

🎤 Second Talk Details

Over the past 2.5 years, I’ve learned a few things working on Marketo’s design system rebuild. The hardest part of design systems is maintaining and managing them. Why? Because a design system is never set in stone. It’s an organic, collaborative effort that complex apps need in order to stay coherent and ensure productive momentum. In this talk, I’ll discuss how combining a React programming pattern, a bit of functional programming, and simple automation can reduce headaches later when the reusable designs and interaction change. 👨‍💻 Speaker Details

Edward Irby is a software engineer at Marketo, where he works on their new next-gen UI soon to see its public beta release. Edward is personally responsible for building and maintaining the design system’s reusable component library.
