This month we'll be welcoming:

Rowan Merewood - Preparing for the end of third-party cookies

Third-party cookies enable critical web functionality across shared sign-in, fraud protection, generally just cool embedded experiences, and (of course) advertising. They get a bad rep as they also enable cross-site tracking. Browsers have been making progress towards restricting them, but as with any breaking change to the web, it's a long process with a surprising amount of hidden complexity. Chrome has just begun enabling its new Tracking Protection feature which restricts third-party cookies by default for 1% of users. This means your sites might be breaking! We'll run through what third-party cookies really even are, how you can check if you need them, and what shiny privacy-preserving alternatives you can implement instead.

Rowan works in Developer Relations for Privacy Sandbox at Google.
