Elk Falls Pond - Staunton State Park

Details
Hi Folks! I've been away a while and haven't been doing much hiking so I'd like to start with this intermediate hike to Elk Falls Pond at Staunton State Park. This is an 8.5 mile (out and back) hike with 1164 feet of gain and will take 3.5 hours according to All Trails. Here is the All Trails description:
This gem of a trail leads hikers out to Elk Falls Pond within the beautiful forested Staunton State Park. The trail has a subtle incline and is well-marked, with gorgeous scenery and lots of wildflowers along the way.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on leash.
What to bring: lots of water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, raincoat, and a trail map (in case you are separated from the group). Trekking poles are optional and up to you. And bring anything else you need to be comfortable.
My hikes require a considerable amount of self reliance. You must be able to find your own way back to the parking lot in case you become separated from the group. So download and bring a map!
Driving Directions to Parking Lot:
There are several good placed for lunch in Conifer after the hike. I'm looking forward to seeing you!
