Abyss Trail to Helms Lake
Details
Here is a description from Alltrails:
Enjoy this 11.7-mile out-and-back trail near Grant, Colorado. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 55 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through September. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
There is a 2400 ft elevation gain with a strating elevation of 9600 ft. So the lake is at 12,000 ft. This will be a strenuous hike. Know your own capabilities and please don't sign up unless you've recently done similar hikes.
What to bring:

Carpool:
Let's carpool from The Fort (restaurant in Morrison). We will leave from the carpool location at 7:30 am sharp so be there by 7:20 am. It's an hour drive from there to the trailhead.
Trail Conditions: We may shorten the hike if we encounter long stretches of post-holing.
Sign Up: If you find yourself on the waitlist before the hike is full (14 people), don't worry. I'll move you to the going list based on your attendance record. If you have multiple no-shows, you will have lower priority.
Let's go to Aspen Peak Celars in Bailey after the hike.
