Details

Hello everyone! It's been a while but we're going to try this online meetup thing out. When you RSVP you will get a Zoom link, so please RSVP. I also am requiring all attendees to be logged into Zoom for security reasons, so please create an account beforehand if you don't have one.

Meetup Schedule:

6:00 - 6:15: Open chat in Zoom, swing in and say hello, I haven't seen most of you in a while.

6:15 - 6:45: Hotwire Pt 1: Turbo Drive & Frames - Andrew Chumich @ Zerrtech

Feeling that JavaScript fatigue? Are Webpack bundles weighing you down? Overwhelmed by the complexity of getting your React app to index properly? Come spend an evening at the Hotwire SPA. The Hotwire stack (HTML Over The Wire - https://hotwire.dev/) allows you to write Single Page Apps (SPAs) while writing little to no JavaScript. In this presentation, we'll learn how to utilize one part of the stack (Turbo Drive and Frames) to turn server rendered apps into snappy SPAs with quick navigation and partial page updates.

6:45 - 7:15: Amazon Web Services APIs using Lambda (plus new Docker support) - Jeremy Zerr @ Zerrtech

One of the easiest ways to host a web API is using Amazon Web Services Lambda + API Gateway. Recently Lambda added support for using Dockerfiles. We will cover lots, start from the basics of running an API using Lambda in AWS all the way to looking at Lambda with the new Dockerfile support compared to running code directly in Lambda.

7:15 - 7:30: SpraySync Startup Adventure - Jeremy Zerr, Andrew Chumich @ Zerrtech

We have a startup called SpraySync (https://www.spraysync.com) in the Mobile GPS Data collection space. We wanted to share some of the process we went through to name, design, architect, along with tech we are using and challenges we had fun with this summer.

Wrap Up:

Let's chat about what we need to improve about doing the meetup online. Also bring your ideas for your own talk and let's keep this thing rolling in 2021!
