Stop Using Recharts

Charting libraries like Recharts promise convenience, but they often impose rigid abstractions that get in the way of flexibility and performance. The truth is, modern low-level tools like the React, D3, and Tailwind - have become so powerful and ergonomic that most frontend developers can build exactly what they need with minimal effort.

In this talk, we’ll explore why high-level charting libraries often create more problems than they solve, from unnecessary re-renders to opinionated APIs that fight against customization. We’ll also look at real-world examples of how lightweight, component-driven approaches can give you full control over your data visualizations while keeping your bundle size lean.

By the end, you'll be questioning whether you really need a charting library at all—and how much better life can be without one.

19:00 - Bar Shaya - Software Engineer
Warning! The Design System Police Are Here

Ensuring consistency in frontend development is crucial—but getting developers to actually follow design system guidelines? That’s the real challenge.
In this session, we’ll dive into practical strategies for enforcing design system adherence. From structured design tokens and automated linting rules to visual component documentation and CI/CD design checks, you’ll discover actionable ways to streamline compliance, improve efficiency, and confidently ship consistent, user-friendly interfaces.

19:20 - 10 minutes Break.

From the ground up: Module Resolution in Node.js, browsers, bundlers, and TypeScript

Module resolution is at the heart of JavaScript - how JavaScript finds the file that is referenced in the import. But how this works is opaque to most of us. It works… until it doesn’t, and then the build fails with weird errors that you don’t know how to fix.
This talk will explain that there is no one module resolution algorithm - there are several - one for each tool - and for a frontend project to build and run well, you need to synchronize all of them together. To do that, you need to understand how they work.
This talk will explain in detail how module resolution works in the browser, in Node.js (for ESM and CommonJS), and also in bundlers and TypeScript. It will explore things like CJS vs ESM, package.json exports vs main, conditional exports, aliases, and others.
Armed with this knowledge will prepare you well for the next time the build says “cannot find module X imported in module Y”.
