Background check: What was AI then, what is it now?

In this first meeting of FtMttM we will kick off the meetup group with an informal discussion of what AI was intended to be, what is is now: What were the expectations when the term "Artificial intelligence" was coined by John McCarthy for a research proposal alongside Marvin Minsky Nathaniel Rochester and Claude Shannon, how alternative terms reflected them, and what are the expectations today?

Some potential discussion points:

• Data Science, Big Data, Machine Learning, Machine Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, what is the difference?
• What is solid and what is hype?
• What about AGI?

We will keep it informal and not too technical to begin with, and chart some directions for new and ongoing discussions.
