Red Rock Canyon Hike - March 28!
Details
End March with a Scenic Adventure In OC's Red Rocks!
Join the Fullerton Hiking Club on Saturday, Mar 28, 2026, at 8:00 AM PST for a 4.22-mile hike (2.11 miles out & back) at the Red Rock Canyon Trail within Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park.
Meeting Location: Borrego Parking Lot, just outside the trailhead for the Red Rock Canyon Trail.
Address: 26701 Portola Pkwy, Foothill Ranch, CA 92610.
Please arrive by 7:55 AM so we can start promptly. The hike will depart at 8:00 am.
This flat, beginner-friendly trail winds through an oak woodland canyon and includes a few short rocky areas, making it accessible for most fitness levels. You’ll follow the Borrego Canyon Trail into Whiting Ranch, veering left onto Mustard Road at the trail board. After another quick left, we’ll pass a bench and head straight to the breathtaking red rock formations at the end of the trail - a sight that feels like stepping into Arizona’s desert landscapes!
Along the way, you’ll enjoy gentle terrain, small water crossings (easy to hop over); a great trail to enjoy in early spring!

- Sturdy walking or hiking shoes
- Water

Additional Information
- Parking: $3 daily. The machine accepts $1 bills, quarters, Visa/MasterCard, or OC Parks Annual Pass. If the lot is full, additional parking may be available across the street near the Hobby Lobby. I do not advise parking in front of the grocery store - they are known to tow.
- Bathrooms: Available at the trailhead; none along the trail.
- Pets: Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on this trail.
We can’t wait to see you there! Please let me know if you have any questions - feel free to send me a DM (:
