Byron Matto (https://twitter.com/bmatto) will provide a sneak preview of the new js framework Famo.us (https://famo.us/about). Byron has early access to the code and the lightning talk will be about it's key differentiators vs existing options. We will provide a full developmental presentation in a few months time once the framework is formally released.

Famo.us (https://famo.us/about) is a JavaScript platform that enables engineers to build beautiful, cross-platform web apps that perform as well as the very best native apps. It is the only framework that provides an open source 3D layout engine fully integrated with a 3D physics-based animation engine that can render to DOM, Canvas, or WebGL.

Charles Denault (https://twitter.com/denault3) is presenting a lightning talk on Hack (http://hacklang.org/) - a programming language for HHVM (http://hhvm.com/) that interoperates seamlessly with PHP and battle tested by Facebook (http://www.wired.com/2014/03/facebook-hack/). Hack reconciles the fast development cycle of PHP with the discipline provided by static typing, while adding many features commonly found in other modern programming languages.

Rather than directly interpret or compile PHP code directly to C++ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HipHop_for_PHP#History_Before_HHVM), HHVM compiles Hack and PHP into an intermediate bytecode. This bytecode is then translated into x64 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X64) machine code dynamically at runtime by a just-in-time (JIT (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-in-time_compilation)) compiler. This compilation process allows for all sorts of optimizations that cannot be made in a statically compiled binary, thus enabling higher performance of your Hack and PHP programs.
