“How to Love Your Legacy Application :: PART TWO” :: A sermon on the subject of software senescence
~ By William Clifford [@wobher]
"Operation Code" :: Most military veterans have never considered software development as a viable career option after their commitment in the service—or that they can’t leverage their New GI Bill to pay for code school tuition, room and board until it’s too late and have already blown their education benefits on a diploma mill and still can’t get work. Leveraging GitHub, Bootstrap, Heroku and Ruby on Rails, Operation Code was launched and overtime created a growing community leveraging open source software. In this talk we’ll share some of the lessons learned, technical processes for deployment, integration of Slack bots for team situational awareness, and how Exercism is helping military veterans learn to code and push their first commit.
