Marin Book Club & Meet The Author

EXCITING UPDATE! The author of "The Bohemians," Jasmin Darznik has graciously agreed to come to the meeting for an hour to discuss the book with us!!! I will ask her to come from 1:30-2:30 so we have a half hour to settle in and introduce ourselves to each other before she arrives. PLEASE read the book before the meeting so we're ready with comments and questions.

UPDATE: We have a reservation for 12-14 people at The Lodge. If you will be ordering food, consider arriving a little early since their kitchen will be a slammed handling that many individual orders.

We're almost at the maximum number so let's get a meeting scheduled. We'll have our first on Sunday, May 5 at 1:00 pm at The Lodge in Fairfax. I've never been but it looks super casual and has a few nice seating areas. I'll call ahead to see if we can reserve one. Otherwise, I'll get there early and hold space.

I'm also going to choose a book for this first meeting. It's "The Bohemians" by Jasmin Darznik. Darznik is a local author and this is a very entertaining fictionalized account of the life of photographer Dorothea Lange. It's available on Kindle, in paperback, and I found the hardback on sale at Copperfield's in San Rafael.

We can spend some time at the first meet up discussing the order for picking future books and any parameters we want to put on that (do we want fiction only, no hardback, etc.)

As a reminder, once we get to 16 members, we will close the book group to new members. That way we can get to know one another and it isn't a free for all each month. If someone doesn't attend or needs to leave the group, we'll go to a waitlist to add a new member. In my experience about 10 of the 16 will come to any particular meet up so it usually works well.
