Meet Up Christchurch's Longest Running Social & Friendship Network

Fun Times Social - Young at Heart 45+ group was created in March 2015 by Judith Millar (Long Standing Member) for the purpose of like-minded people to connect and to share common and various interests.
With this developed social age platform but centuries old algorithm, the idea of this was to have a safe and secure real-life zone for people to come together in this technological era, in a non-threatening environment within the public arena.
This was mainly in the form of Friday Night Drinks and Socializing.

Our group's activities mainly consist of the following:
Weekly Friday Night Social Drinks & Friday-Saturday Night Live Music & Dancing.
If the Bars & Clubs scenario is not one's scene, our group may not be suitable for them.
Our members are also involved in Outdoor Activities & Walking which are posted regularly.
We're all here to have general fun, laughter, and memorable times together, wherever our paths take us.
We welcome good individuals over 45+ from strong walks of life.
Our pronouns are "We - Us - Them - Ours".
Members are the spirit and backbone of our group.

We do not tolerate the following anti-social behavior from any individual:
Excessive profanity, vulgarism and lewdness towards other members.
Any form of bullying, stalkerish or threatening behavior towards other members.
Unsolicited messaging to other members on this platform via our group.
Creating or bringing unwanted personal dramas to other members within our group.
Excessive pre-loading of alcohol or illegal substances prior to attending our events whilst interacting with our members in the public arena.
We take this very seriously and members involved will be removed and possibly banned from our group.
Also, please be mindful of the Harmful Digital Communications 2015 Act.

Becoming a member of our group:
In this technological age and especially with the rise of AI, groups within social platforms like Meetup have been experiencing unwanted requests from scams, fake profiles, bots and more.
We vigorously manage and audit this, so it is important that we approve genuine requests, so there may be a delay in one being accepted.
We ourselves are being monitored from the powers that be.

To be accepted we highly recommend the following:
One's real first name (surname optional)
A fairly recognizable photo of oneself (no sunglasses)
Answer our approval questions genuinely
Sending us a message prior confirming one is genuine (optional)
RSVP and attend an event within 90 days of acceptance

One may be declined or removed due to the following:
Using a pseudo login handle
Not providing a photo of oneself (scenic, animals, group, not accepted)
Having duplicate, multiple profiles or accounts
Suspected AI, bot, scam, fake profiles, or accounts
A period of long inactivity or nil RSVPs (we audit this 6-monthly)

On a brighter note:
Although we do not have the power to control human algorithms, we understand that friendships and connections may grow into more than just meeting up with others.
Our advice to anyone is that "your discretion is your protection"
