Abstract for Type safe, message driven, distributed - a whirlwind tour of Akka
In this talk we’ll do a quick intro to the actor model with the typed actor APIs introduced in Akka 2.6 and then peek at many of the things the Akka toolkit provides for writing message driven, type safe and distributed systems using the actor model from Scala (and other JVM languages).

Johan Andrén
Johan Andrén is a senior developer in the core Akka Team at Lightbend where he has spent the last 5 years working on various aspects of Akka itself and the umbrella of projects closely related to it. Before joining Lightbend he worked as a mentor and consultant with Scala and the JVM as speciality. In his spare time he is one of the organizers of Scala Usergroup Stockholm.

Peter will show and tell about what he thinks makes Clojure and ClojureScript extra nice from an ergonomics perspective. And how he is trying to make Calva package and deliver this power as quickly as possible to newcomers to the language. Mostly show. The presentation comes with a REPL fiddling and fumbling guarantee.

Peter Strömberg is a former product owner who discovered Clojure, fell for it, became a ClojureScript app developer at Pilloxa, and created Calva a Clojure extension for Visual Studio Code.

Java is popular for its object oriented programming paradigm. But can it also do functional programming? Lets learn what aspects of functional programming is possible in Java and what is not possible. We will take a quick look at different FP concepts supported in Java and a deeper dive at Java's functional interfaces.
