  • Intro by Magnus Sedlacek
  • PropEr state machine testing by Max Nordlund
  • Banking on Clojure by James Trunk
  • A debugging carol - Bugs past, present and future by Emil Hernvall

Abstract for PropEr state machine testing
PropEr is a property testing library for Erlang. In this talk I'm going to take a deep dive into the state machine part. First how to use state machine as a design tool, then how to use PropEr to verify your implementation.

Max Nordlund
I work at Kivra, where the main language is Erlang, and main database is Riak. But before that I’ve worked professionally with JavaScripts for quite a few years. I introduces Promises at my first gig 2013, and haven’t looked back since. They are a lovely abstraction, and later I found out that they are in fact monads. Outside programming I’m a scout leader for youngsters 15-18. Working with kids, and young adults, really teaches you new perspective and to not take things for granted.

James Trunk
James is a technology leader, with two decades of experience building successful digital products and high performing teams. He started his career as a software developer, but an early interest for people, processes, and psychology pulled him towards leadership.

James loves to transform teams and perfect products, which he’s done in previous roles as a Product Owner, CTO, and Head of Engineering. He has board experience, has advised leadership teams, and coached C-level executives.

James also co-developed and open sourced an exciting new approach to software architecture called Polylith (https://polylith.gitbook.io/polylith/), and occasionally finds the time to teach functional programming on YouTube.

Emil Hernvall
I currently specialize in application-level security, in particular in relation to automated threats (i.e. bot mitigation). I have a broad sets of skills that I have acquired over the years, which include frontend, backend, mobile, desktop, network programming, graphics programming and data science. Although I'm proficient in a about a dozen languages, my preferred language is Rust, which I've been using full time since 2018.

I lead complex engineering projects. Much of my day to day revolves around resolving ambiguity. I enjoy mentoring, and try to spend as much time as possible on guiding junior engineers.

Venue sponsor – Funnel
We want to democratize data. Data is critical for companies to win today, and it shouldn’t be something only a few have access to or know how to work with. We at Funnel want to enable a truly data-driven company culture. And we believe that we can do this by empowering marketers and, over time, all business users to work confidently with their data.
