Blue bells hike Tring, Ivinghoe Beacon to Berkhamstead (12 miles)
Details
Join Fun Hikes for a blue bell hike through the Chiltern Hills and Ashridge Estate. We will experience magnificent scenery, symphony of blue bells and a traditional English village of Aldbury.
WALK OVERVIEW
Our route starts at Tring station and takes us along the stunning National Trails "Ridgeway Path" to Ivinghoe Beacon, which at 233m is one of the highest points in the Chilterns and provides superb views. The Ridgeway Path is an 87 mile long route that has been used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers.
We then descend through the beautiful woodland's of the National Trust's Ashridge Estate towards the picturesque English village of Aldbury, quintessentially typical English village. This part of the walk has magnificent blue bells to admire. And a little bonus. All of the climbing is in the first half of the walk: the second half is all flat or downhill.
We will then continue to Berkhamsted, which is also on a rail line to London, one stop nearer than Tring.
