Summer Flotilla

Details
Note: we've rescheduled the event due to Hurricane Debby
It's time for the Summer Flotilla! This time, we are planning on sailing out to Welwyn Preserve, a nature preserve and the site of a history museum on the North Shore of Long Island.
Here's a rough schedule:
Friday
We will stage all the boats in Port Washington, NY and set sail from there. The sail to Welwyn should take about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the weather and the wind. Participants are free to take it slow or fast though, as long as they make it to the destination by sunset. We will anchor off the beach and pitch tents in the preserve for the night.
Saturday
Saturday is a free day. We can sail around the Sound, go swimming, go hiking, or whatever we feel like doing. In the evening, we will host a seafood boil on the beach.
Sunday
We make our way back to Port Washington under sail.
Free Sailing School
For this inaugural event, we are using the event as a fundraiser for a free sailing school that we help with in New York City. We are asking participants to donate a minimum of $20 to cover the cost of the seafood boil, and the remaining donation will go towards supporting the sailing school and its fleet of small boats.
Other Notes:
- If you can't make it to some of the sailing passages, don't worry! Welwyn Preserve is easily accessible by the LIRR
- We might have a few tents / sleeping bags for rent if you don't have one
- We have a couple of boats available for rent for extra fees, inquire with the organizers
