Lake Union Halloween Steamship Cruise (SS Virginia V)
Details
Join the SS Virginia V for a FREE Halloween cruise on October 26 (last Sunday in October)!
There will be two 1-hour cruises, with departures at 11:30 am (returning at 12:30) and 1:30pm (returning at 2:30). Book whichever timeslot is most convenient for you, both cruises will be the same. If the weather is nice, we can do photos in the park between cruises!
Please note, there are NO advance reservations for either cruise. Signups occur on the day of, in person, at the Center for Wooden Boats building. Signups open at 10am, and continue until boat trips are full (140 spots per trip).
While we do not anticipate selling out of both trips, we recommend getting there early! Your entire group must be present during signups (reserving tickets for others is not allowed).
The Virginia V will be sailing out of slip 2 at Lake Union Park, behind MOHAI. Inside, the ship will be decorated for Halloween, with a spooky playlist, candy, and hot apple cider. The Bar will be serving soda, beer, wine, and snacks for purchase. Boarding begins at 11am for the 11:30 cruise and 1pm for the 1:30 departure. Please be at the ship no later than 15 min before it leaves.
These Halloween cruises are open to the public, so we won’t have exclusive run of the ship, but costumes (including fursuits) are encouraged! If fursuiting, please plan to wear your suit to the ship, or use soft-sided luggage, as the ship has limited storage space for hard-sided cases. The ship has ample indoor, and covered outdoor, spaces in case of rain.
The ship will be headed out from SLU and over to Portage Bay, allowing for an incredible view of all the floating homes of Seattle. You can also go down to the engine room and watch the 120-year-old steam engine run, the engineers will be more than happy to give you a close up look.
Go up to the wheelhouse, blow the steam whistle, and enjoy the only operating wooden, propeller-driven passenger steamship in North America!
Parking info: There is a small lot directly in front of MOHAI/CWB, a large parking lot up the length of Westlake Ave (both City of Seattle parking), and several Amazon buildings in the area offer free parking in their garages on weekends. Please refer to the map in the photo gallery for parking and transit options. Many private surface lots in the area also have parking at a variety of daily rates. Public Transit to the park includes the South Lake Union Streetcar, buses 40 and the C-Line (one block walk) and the 62 (2 block walk).
