Enrich Your Data Inline with Apache NiFi

Details

Apache NiFi has emerged as the tool of preference for many when it comes to ingesting and distributing data. It makes quick work of ingesting data from hundreds of sources and quickly pushing the data exactly where it needs to go. When it comes to data enrichment, though, many are quick to jump to a Complex Event Processing (CEP) framework, such as Apache Spark or Flink. In some cases, this may be necessary. But for many cases, NiFi can do a great job of handling that data enrichment for you, as your data streams through the system, without having to write a line of code.

In this meetup, we’ll take a look at the different options you have for enriching your data using Apache NiFi. When and why would we prefer using NiFi for enrichment over a potentially more holistic solution, like Flink or Spark? What are the limitations? And how can we get the best of both worlds, performing data enrichment with NiFi when it makes sense, and using our CEP engine when that makes the most sense?

This is still a tricky time for public gatherings, but Future of Data is committed to providing great tech content & facilitating discussions in the "Big Data" space. Our group in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is holding this event; in order to do our part to fight the spread of COVID-19's Omicron variant, this will be an exclusively online event originating in Eastern Daylight Time (the event time displayed on this page will reflect the equivalent local time). We thought it might be of interest to our wider membership (you are welcome to sign up for it here).
